Vintage Crochet Cardigan

I've made this sweater before.  It's from a vintage pattern available here.  This time, instead of using Caron Simply Soft, I used a tweedy wool blend that I had purchased at the CGOA Conference.  The yarn is scratchy but not bad for use in a cardigan.  The motifs are easy to make.  You work in a square spiral and do not join each row.  Of course, once the motifs are done, they must be sewn together.  I added wide cuffs because I didn't like the way the 3/4 sleeve motifs were joined to the sleeve bands.
Close up, the ridged pattern is very interesting and I've received many compliments when I wear this cardi.  The fit is good, although it looks a bit baggy on my skinny Mani!

Easygoing Hoodie

I designed this Lion Suede bag with a matching cell phone holder.  I originally had used a satin lining but it was too soft for the purpose. The new lining is brown and black velveteen.  I also attached a long strap since I am a person who has to be able to sling my bag over my shoulder.  I was able to purchase a few great purse accessories like the D-rings and the snap toggles at Wal-Mart.  I also inserted plastic canvas between the bag and the lining to give it some body.  In retrospect, I wish I had made a boxy bottom to the purse since it now holds very little!

Giant Granny Square Scrap Afghan

I had quite a few skeins of acrylic worsted yarn left over so I decided to make a scrap afghan.  I figured I'd just use up the hodge-podge of colors and not worry about how it looked. Well...when the afghan was about 2 feet square I couldn't bring myself to ruin it by using all the colors so-- you guessed it--I had to buy more yarn! Fifteen skeins later I finished it.  I also whipped up a rice roll and a neck bolster with the few remaining scraps.  The ugly colors? I actually gave them to Goodwill!
